Participate in California Cleanup Day

23nd Annual Coastal and Inner Coastal Cleanup Day

Saturday, September 15, 2007
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

TrashThe Orange County Stormwater Program is supporting the 11th Annual Inner Coastal & Watershed Cleanup Day and the 23nd Annual Coastal & Inner Coastal Cleanup Day as part of California Cleanup Day.

Inner Coastal and Watershed Cleanup Day is held in conjunction with the Coastal Cleanup Day each September and brings together volunteers to collect trash and debris. Coastal Cleanup Day is a partnership between the Coastal Commission, non-profit groups, cities and counties throughout the state, and is part of the International Coastal organized by The Ocean Conservancy.

California Cleanup Day is about more than picking up trash. It is a chance to join people around the world in expressing their respect for our waterways and oceans. It is also an opportunity for communities to demonstrate their desire for clean water and a healthy environment.

In 2006 in Orange County, over 6,500 volunteers picked up approximately 78,000 pounds of trash, 13,000 of which were recyclables. Statewide over 50,000 volunteers collected approximately 830,000 pounds of trash.

Click here to see a slide show of prior California Clean-Up Day events.

Participating in Coastal and Inner-Coastal Cleanup Day is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  1. Pre-register with your local site captain, or simply show up. All sites are drop-in sites.
  2. Go to your favorite site and help cleanup our beaches and waterways.
  3. Have a great day.

Watch for site updates and added Cleanup Day sites. If you need further information call the Coastal Cleanup Coordinator for Orange County, Park Ranger Sara Girard @ (949) 923-2252 or (714) 448-1942.

We expect an even more successful event this year and encourage your attendance at any one of these Orange County locations:
