Outlook offers three different
formats to choose from for your e-mail messages:
HTML, Rich Text, or Plain Text. These three
choices are found in the Options dialog box
on the Mail Format tab (in Outlook, choose
Tools|Options…). Figure
1 below is
a picture of the Mail Format tab. Choose
"Plain Text" to send all future
e-mails in Plain Text format.

Alternatively, you can choose the message format
while composing the e-mail. You can do so by
using the Message Format option on the Message
toolbar (See Figure 2, below). Click on the "Plain
Text " button to compose a new message or convert
an existing message to the Plain Text format.

If your toolbar does not show these options,
you can add the Message Format options to the
toolbar by using the Commands tab in the
Customize dialog box (in Outlook, choose View|Toolbars…).
Click on Format under the Categories list. In
the Commands list, click and drag the "Plain
Text, Rich Text, HTML" commands onto the toolbar
(See Figure 3, below).
