The Orange County Stormwater Program will be hosting two workshops on the
renewal submittals for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
municipal stormwater permits. The NPDES permits are a result of a 1987
amendment to the Federal Clean Water Act. Under these permits, local government
in Orange County must control urban sources of water pollutants. These sources
include, but are not limited to:
- Fertilizers and pesticides from landscape areas
- Oils, grease, heavy metals and litter from driveways, roads and parking lots
- Soil erosion from landscape and construction activities
To further community understanding of the permit renewal process, explain the
proposed changes to the program, and to elicit community comments, the Orange
County Stormwater Program will host the following workshops:
