OC Watersheds Sustainability-Going Green
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
With its pledge to protect and enhance the environment, the County of Orange is
making strides to promote green building practices and environmentally friendly
design with efforts to reduce impact and overall cost savings. Using LEED standards
developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the County’s goal is to incorporate
safe, clean, and green building features in five LEED categories: including sustainable
site development, water usage, energy efficiency, material and resources selection,
indoor environmental quality. For Project Certification, USGBC offers 4 levels based
on credits earned: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
